Terms:
Kami: word for the spirits in trees, rivers, streams, and mountains that the early Japanese worshiped. It comes from the Shinto faith.
Daimyo: heads of noble families, controlled vast land areas that owed no taxes. They were the most powerful feudal rulers from the 10th century to the 19th century in Japan.
Porcelain: ceramic made of fine clay that was baked at a very high temperature to form glass. it was used quite often in China.
Firelance: a primitive flame thrower, could spit a mix of flames and projectiles up to 40 yards. the weapon has now evolved into cannons and rockets.
Shogun: military leader of a centralized government who were normally appointed by an emperor. We can relate one to a General in our army today.
People:
Kublai Khan: "The Great Khan" grandson of Genghis Khan who finally conquered all of China. He then established the only Mongol dynasty which was the Yuan Dynasty.
Genghis Khan: "Universal Monarch" tried to conquer all of China, but died before he succeeded, the great wall was built to keep him out, and he used the golden horde.
Emperor Yang Guang: extended the Grand Canal by linking the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, and caused the reconstruction of the Great Wall, which took nearly 6 million lives.
Hung Wu: Buddhist monk that drove the Mongols out of China and founded the white lotus society. He was also the founder and first emperor of the Ming Dynasty.
Marco Polo: traveled to China from Europe to learn what it was like, went back and reported all the amazing things and no one believed him so he was given the name the "Prince of Lies".

The Asian world had many parts to it such as dynastys and rulers. The Sui dynasty was during 589-615 and did not last very long. This dynasty did succeed in bringing Chine together under the rule of an emperor. Sui Yang Di was an emperor for this dynasty and he finish the Grand Canal. This canal linked the Huang He and the Yangtze rivers which both flow west to east. This canal was built to make it easier to ship rice from south to north and succeeded in doing so. Another dynasty was the Tang dynasty which was from 618-907. This dynasty brought upon new rules which many new rulers did. This dynasty tried to have peace in northwestern China and they tried to have power in eastern China. In China, trade was very important because of the new technology increase. They began to use steel to make swords and sickles. One major inventions was gunpowder to make explosives. Trade increase in a major way due mainly by all of these new inventions. Due to so much trade the population increased greatly. With all of this population and trade to society became a better place for people to live a comfortable life.
